Forty paces of manicured lawn run from the rose walk to a stone altar shaded by the great hollow oak that gives the estate its name. Gilt chairs are set in a gentle arc; the aisle is yours to dress in petals or candlelight. As the afternoon softens, the western light pours through the canopy — our most-photographed half hour of the day.
